Yes friends, as some of you might have noticed, it’s been tough keeping up with the ol’ blog lately. I have, however, been keeping up with my marathon training, and all of those marathon journal entries are current, although not all transferred over to this blog just yet. (Hope to be current by the end of the week.)
I’m back in LA now, but keeping close tabs on my dad’s progress back in Florida. It’s been slow and steady, as he continues to make incremental improvements. Hey – I wish the healing process would go faster, but this situation clearly has a life of its own. It’s on my mind constantly. Still have not fully processed the totality of what’s happened.
And yet, we continue. Isn’t that the truth? Life does continue… for all of us. Dad, too. I have an even greater appreciation for the “eternal now” – the moment we’re experiencing, in any given second – than I ever did before… and I had a pretty damn good understanding of it before, let me tell you!
Been in a bit of a workaholic mode, but what else is new? I think all the work – and all of the physical training – is coming at a good time. I think it’s all allowing me to digest the magnitude of what’s happened more gradually. Still… this has been a tough one to process. I’ve experienced real life-altering, head-splitting trauma in my life on a few occasions, and I think I’ve done pretty well in dealing with it head-on. But this one… I don’t know. It’s been difficult to fully embrace the entire scope of the situation. Over two months later, it still has a very surreal quality about it.
But again – we continue…
LA Marathon Sponsorship
Speaking of physical training, the LA marathon is only 10 days away. Over 5 months of training culminated into a recent 22-mile run, and all went well. All the hours of running, weightlifting, stretching and icing various body parts seem to be paying off. That was the longest run of our training, and now – as my journals will indicate – we are in taper-down mode up until race day.
And while I’ve kept up with my training, I’ve slacked off pretty bad on my fundraising… which was the main impetus for me agreeing to do the damn thing in the first place! I feel like I’ve really let my fellow team members down. So for the next 10 days, I’ve gotta kick it into high-alert and raise some dough for the cause; Kitten Rescue, one of my favorite rescue groups. Been relying on them for ages out here, and they do great work.
For those of you who have contributed, I thank you immensely. Moving forward, I would like to offer the following raffle contest:
Win a One-Hour Skype Session (or phone consultation) with Yours Truly!
All donations of exactly $27 to my Crowdrise page made between Thursday March 8 and Saturday March 18 will get you entered into a random drawing to win a live, one-hour phone or Skype session with me. It can be a nutrition or exercise consultation, a Skype drum lesson, or pretty much anything else you would like to talk about for one full hour. (You can even transfer your session to someone else as a gift, if you like.)
The random drawing will be held on March 20th and the winner contacted immediately. And remember, all proceeds are tax deductible and will be put to good use for a homeless cat or dog. Here’s the link. Just hit the donate button. Will only take a couple minutes.
Please spread the word.
I’ll continue to update the journals and eventually get back into other things around here, as well.

PS. Here’s a pic of Ziggy, formerly a sickly, flea-ridden little guy, who was found abandoned on the streets and in pretty bad shape. Thanks to Kitten Rescue, he was placed in foster care, received all necessary medical attention, and is now living large in his forever home.
