As many of you probably know, I’m a huge proponent of what I call Superfoods Smoothies, and I have very specific ways that I suggest preparing them. But, if you’re new to the world of homemade smoothies – or just looking for an excellent new recipe – here’s a simple, potent and very tasty way to go.
Mix the following ingredients together in a blender:
6 to 8 oz. of 100% orange juice
6 to 8 oz. of vanilla soy milk (I recommend Soy Dream Enriched Vanilla)
1 handful of strawberries
2 handfuls of raw spinach (Yes, spinach! You won’t even taste it in this recipe.)
Blend on high until smooth.
If you want it thicker, add more fruit.
If it’s too thick, add more liquid.
If you want it sweeter, add more juice.
If you want it creamier, add more soy milk.
If you want even more antioxidants, use a mixed berry blend (the more blueberries, the better).
If you want even more “green power” benefits, add as much spinach as you can tolerate, taste-wise.
If you want it colder, use either frozen berries or a few ice cubes.
If you want it as a post-workout drink, add a scoop of veggie protein powder (soy, rice, pea, etc.).
If you want it as more of a complete meal (aka a basic Superfoods Smoothie), add a scoop of veggie protein powder, a couple scoops of oats and a tablespoon of flax oil.
Try one of these variations per day for a week or two and feel the difference. (They make the perfect breakfast, by the way…)
